Bloomfield, CT High School Alumni Notes 1921-1926 03

followed a banquet in Hartford, in June, 1924, at the Hotel Bond. This was under the direction of Jessica Weiant, President of the Association during the year 1923-24. She was our first President. The next year, under the guidance of President Helen Krick, a banquet and meeting was held at the Hub in Hartford in June 1925. William Brainerd presided as toastmaster.
Last June it was decided to hold an Alumni Day on the High School grounds followed by a banquet and social in the evening. This plan was very successful due to the untiring energy of President "Bill"
Brainerd. Credit also goes to "Tommy" Don, because his splendid and ample voice exercised because of his task as announcer, put snap and pep into the field events. The P. T. A. ladies gave us a bountiful feast at the Auditorium in the evening.
Guests of this fourth banquet were the High School teachers, Mr. Mandrey and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Goodrich. As first selectman, Mr. Goodrich favored us with an address. Harry Minor acted as toastmaster.
After the toasts we staged our first initiation of the Senior "babies." Then followed dancing until 12 midnight tolled an official end to the school year of 1925-26.
Too much credit cannot go to William Brainerd for his strenuous efforts to make this Alumni Day a success. By his zeal and spirit, fostered by his loyalty to B. H. S., he laid the foundation for an annual Alumni Day. He spared neither time nor worry to work out all the details of the day and set a standard for graduate interest and loyalty to the school that is highly commendable.
