BOYS' ATHLETICS
The basketball season started immediately after school opened.
The prospects for a powerful team during the year seemed very bright be¬cause two veterans from the previous year were with us. namely, Richard Besso and Barry James. Two other veterans were gained in the persons of George Thinly and Paul Myers. Two Freshmen on the team who show excellent promise of becoming stars next year are Harry Petri and George King. Richard Besso was a serious worker and always played a dependable game. Barry James, a very fast man on the court, was our long distance basket hurler.
George Thinly, a fast aggressive player, did excellent work both as a guard and forward. Harry Petri. Joe Rankin and Paul Myers shared positions as guards. Enthusiasm counts a great deal in basket ball as in all sports and these three guards, full of life and cooperation, are valuable assets to the team.
George King interchanged positions with George Thinly as guard and forward. The former showed plenty of speed and was a good worker. Wil¬liam Gwerder was elected Athletic Manager by the student body.
Courtland was placed in class "13- under the new ruling of the league, thus giving her a better opportunity for the pennant.
